Midnight & Yokai Item Guide
Cursed Objects & Midnight Items Guide
Cursed Objects (呪物) are a broad supernatural item category rather than one single currency. Some are spent at Mukoutsuji Shrine, some control Midnight anomalies, some are defensive or story items, and others belong to Lost Books, Machine Parts or Old Mouse Coins systems.
Do not merge them with tainted crops and fish (祟られたもの), which belong to the Okami-buchi / Nushi offering system.
Current count boundary: the external structured baseline is 80, but the repository's complete normalized category count is currently unknown.

Purifying Salt
Shrine item-recipe → Workbench. Current materials: Salt ×1 + Rock Salt ×1. Its documented function is Haunted Shelf / Midnight suppression.

Sell safety
Keep first, sell only with evidence
A sell price does not prove reacquisition or safe disposal.
Keep
Six Shrine currencies, Wood Plaques, Purifying Salt, Straw Doll, phones and doll-chain items.
Keep for offering
Cursed Crops and Fish route to Nushi's Scale; Nushi's Scale itself is an output.
Unknown
Fragments, unclassified lore objects and items without a complete source/reacquisition record.
Duplicate-safe
No broad Cursed Object group is marked duplicate-safe by category membership alone.
Mode & completion
Shade-only assumptions stay bounded
Catalog
Some item records have Catalog relationships, but complete 呪物 category registration, consumption behavior and variant semantics are not normalized here.
Catalog →Completion
Completion Roadmap can reference the category and its subsystems, but Lost Books, Machine Parts and Mouse Coins must not be summed twice.
Completion Roadmap →Sunshine / postgame
Safe Mode availability and source-by-source postgame availability remain unknown. Do not import normal Midnight access into Village in the Sunshine.

Cursed Object questions
What are Cursed Objects?
Cursed Objects (呪物) are a broad supernatural item category. They include Shrine resources, anomaly-control items, defensive items, story relics and collectible-system entries rather than one universal currency.
How many Cursed Objects are there?
The external structured baseline lists 80 records, but the current repository has no complete normalized 呪物 registry. The reconciled repository count therefore remains unknown rather than being hardcoded as 80.
Are Magatama Cursed Objects?
The four Magatama records, Bronze Mirror and Sword are treated here as the six Shrine-currency members of the category. They are Shrine resources, not general money or equipment.
What are Wood Plaques used for?
Each of the five Wood Plaques targets a corresponding anomaly through the Haunted Shelf. A plaque does not guarantee that the anomaly appears during the current Midnight.
What does Purifying Salt do?
Craft Purifying Salt through the Shrine item-recipe and Workbench chain, then place it on the Haunted Shelf to suppress Midnight wake-up/anomaly pressure.
What does Straw Doll do?
When carried, Straw Doll absorbs one damage instance and is consumed. It is not a Scarecrow or seasonal crop device.
How do you get Nushi's Scale?
Offer Cursed Crops or Cursed Fish at Okami-buchi / Nushi. Nushi's Scale is the reward/output and increases maximum HP.
What is Fox Fried Tofu used for?
Fox Fried Tofu comes from Fox Shrine offering progression and increases maximum Stamina by one gauge segment.
Are Cursed Crops and Cursed Fish Cursed Objects?
No. They belong to the separate tainted-item family (祟られたもの) and are inputs for the Okami-buchi / Nushi offering system.
Should I sell Cursed Objects?
Keep Shrine resources, plaques, control items and story-chain items unless a dedicated source confirms safe duplicate disposal. A sell price alone is not proof that an item is safe to sell.
Are Cursed Objects available in Village in the Sunshine?
The current repository does not establish a complete Sunshine-mode availability map, so this page does not import Shade-mode Midnight availability into the safe mode.
