* Midnight secret
Ghost Mice, Old Mouse Coins and the Sewer Rat
Give a ghost mouse Cheese, follow it to the buried spot and dig with your Hoe. The recovered Old Mouse Coin feeds a cumulative well route that ends at the Sewer Rat reward.
The important distinction is simple: around 30 candidate mouse locations are not 30 one-time collectibles. The well asks for 30 coins over repeatable Midnight encounters.

* Quick answer
The complete Ghost Mouse loop
The event is a short feed, follow and dig sequence. Prepare the item and tool before you start searching.
- 1Go out during Midnight exploration with Cheese and a Hoe.
- 2Find a ghost mouse at one of the active nighttime locations.
- 3Give the mouse one Cheese so the encounter begins.
- 4Follow it until it disappears into a buried spot.
- 5Use the Hoe on that spot to recover one Old Mouse Coin.
- 6Offer the coins at the old well until the counter reaches 30/30.
Do not confuse these
Spawn points: about 30 candidate locations, with the active set and weights unresolved.
Old Mouse Coins: repeatable encounter rewards counted toward one cumulative 30-coin well goal.
Sewer Rat: the reward after the well route reaches 30/30.
* Prepare
Make Cheese before the chase
Cheese is the real gate for most first attempts. Use the shared livestock and processing chain.
Unlock Goat access through livestock progression, collect Goat Milk, then put it in the Milk Processor.
The canonical recipe takes 1 day and lists a ¥189 sell price for Cheese. You do not need the Oil Press for this route.
Carry at least one piece per encounter. Quality is not used as a requirement in the current guide evidence.

Why the map is not a 30-item checklist
Only a random subset of candidate locations is expected to be active on a given Midnight.
Reports point to roughly 30 possible locations, but the exact active count and spawn weights are not confirmed. Treat the number as a candidate pool, not a guaranteed nightly count.
Search again on later nights. The same point can repeat, and a missed mouse is not a permanent failure.
Some points may sit beyond locked hunting or late-game access. Open relevant areas before trying to farm the whole route, without assuming every hunting license is required.
* Well progression
Turn in coins on the route toward the Waterfall Fishing Spot
The old well is the destination for the coins, not the place where you find the mice.
Take the side path on the route toward the Waterfall Fishing Spot and interact with the old well. Its counter is cumulative: keep returning with coins until it reaches 30/30. You can turn them in one at a time or across multiple visits.
At 30/30
The route gives the Sewer Rat reward and satisfies the hidden Kindness Repaid achievement condition. If an English name differs in your build, use the reward description and progression state as the stronger identifier.
* FAQ
Old Mouse Coin questions
Short answers for the points most likely to cause a wasted night.
No. The location reports describe candidate spawn points, while the 30 is the cumulative well requirement. A spawn point can be active again on a later night.
During Midnight exploration. It is not a daytime farm or ordinary hunting interaction.
One Cheese per successful encounter. Carry Cheese before leaving so the mouse does not turn into a wasted sighting.
The Hoe. Feeding the mouse alone does not award the coin; follow it and dig where it disappears.
Use the side path on the route toward the Waterfall Fishing Spot. The well keeps cumulative progress, so you do not need 30 coins in your inventory at one time.
The Sewer Rat reward becomes available, and this progression satisfies the hidden Kindness Repaid achievement condition.
No permanent missable is currently supported. If an encounter fails or a location is inactive, return on a later Midnight.
