Fishing Guide

Village in the Shade Fishing Guide

This fishing guide uses a structured fish database so you can compare fish by season, location, time, variant and progression use instead of hunting through static tables.

The current Japanese guide dataset now provides named coverage for all 29 normal fish and all six Nushi entries. English names follow the current Japanese release, while exact bait odds and some pond mechanics still need cautious wording.

Last updated: August 20, 2026. Exact bait probabilities, exact albino odds and exclusive spawn-window claims remain intentionally cautious.

Fish Uses

Check a fish's purpose before selling it

The current structured data can connect some fish to recipes and the Fish Delivery Catalog. A missing use here means no exact match is documented, not that the fish has no other gameplay value.

Recipe and request links use exact English-name matching. Japanese aliases, provisional translations and unnamed ingredient fields are not merged automatically.

Location Planning

Choose a fishing area before choosing a target

The current dataset can be read by location as well as by season and time. Use this summary to decide which area is worth visiting, then use the finder above for the exact fish rows.

Counts are calculated from the current documented dataset. A fish listed at more than one location contributes to each applicable location.

Route Advice

Match the route to the reason you are fishing

Do not treat the most populated location as automatically best. A smaller area may be the correct choice when you need a specific shipment fish, a cursed entry or an albino target.

Collection: filter the target fish first, then confirm its listed location and time.

Shipments: use the four shipment groups later on this page before selling a duplicate.

Night route: check the Nighttime Guide for midnight context and cursed-resource links.

How Fishing Works

Use the Finder After You Know the Basic Loop

The mechanics are still the same. The data layer just makes the location and time questions much easier to scan.

  • Progress the early story until fishing unlocks.
  • Go to a valid fishing spot.
  • Cast and wait for the bite.
  • Trigger the pull phase.
  • Complete the timing prompts.
  • Check season, location and likely best time if the target does not appear.

Bait

What This Import Says About Bait

The bait notes in the imported dataset are useful, but they should remain qualitative for now.

  • The imported PhyllisY dataset treats fish sale prices as base prices, not guaranteed final sale prices after bonuses.
  • The same dataset reports that better bait appears to shift catches toward relatively valuable medium or large fish.
  • White Bait improves your chances of targeting white/Nushi fish; it is not currently supported as a strict requirement.
  • Exact probability increases, odds, consumption behavior and per-fish effects are not yet verified.
  • White Bait recipe: Flour + Sawagani (サワガニ). Sawagani is separate from Japanese Crayfish and Japanese Mitten Crab.

Fish Shipments

Rare Albino Fish

Six Location-Specific Albino / Nushi Entries in the Current Dataset

The updated AppMedia and Japanese guide data lists six Nushi entries. All are documented as available all year and at any time, each with a base sell value of ¥2,500.

FishLocationBase sell price
白化日本黑螯虾Crossroads¥2500
Albino EelVillage¥2500
Albino KoiWaterfall¥2500
Albino ItoMountain¥2500
Albino Softshell TurtleDeep Mountain¥2500
Albino NamazuQuarry¥2500

The current data treats all six Nushi as all year and any time. Their locations remain independent from the locations of their normal fish counterparts.

White Bait improves targeting, but current evidence says white fish can still appear naturally at very low rates without it. It is not a strict requirement.

Cursed Fish at Midnight

One Documented Midnight Entry Per Major Location

The imported dataset lists one cursed-fish entry for each major fishing area, all tied to Midnight and a ¥99 base sell price.

Keep or Sell?

Decide What the Catch Is For Before You Dump It

A fish can be more valuable as a recipe, request item, pond breeder or cursed-resource step than as a quick sale.

Usually sell

  • High-value ordinary surplus
  • Common duplicates
  • Fish that are not needed for recipes or requests
  • Extra albino fish once your breeding or collection goals are covered

Usually keep

  • Cursed fish
  • The first copy of a rare albino fish
  • Recipe fish
  • Fish needed for requests
  • Fish intended for pond breeding

Fish can enter Fish Sauce, Dried Fish, Smoked Fish and Composter routes. Species-level processing returns are still being verified, so this page does not calculate processing profit from a fish's raw price.

Fish Ponds

Ponds Still Matter More Than One Lucky Catch

Once you know where and when to catch a fish, the next question is whether it belongs in a pond route.

  • Fish ponds remain one of the most useful ways to turn fishing into a partially passive system later on.
  • That matters even more for expensive or rare catches because a pond route can be safer than relying on repeat lucky hooks.
  • Use the structured fish finder for catch planning, then decide whether the result is better sold, cooked, processed or bred.

Japanese player guides report that at least two of the same fish can reproduce in a pond. Bait appears to affect reproduction chances, but exact probabilities are not known. White/albino pond breeding remains uncertain.

Terminology

Fish Names and Localization

The Japanese identities are now mapped across the current 41-entry dataset. The remaining naming uncertainty is primarily the future official English localization.

Japanese names are retained alongside the current English display names so the guide can be updated cleanly when official localization is available.

Exact bait odds and some pond mechanics remain unknown.

Practical Boundaries

What is known and what is still unknown?

Use the documented conditions for planning, and treat hidden probabilities as unknown where no exact value is available.

Publicly safe

  • Fishing varies by location, season and time.
  • Higher-value fish are often better sold raw than processed.
  • Albino fish exist as a rare premium catch class.
  • Midnight fishing can produce cursed fish.

Useful planning notes

  • The 41-entry structured fish dataset itself.
  • The exact base-price rows in the PhyllisY dataset.
  • White Bait improving white/Nushi targeting without being a strict requirement.
  • Higher-quality bait shifting catches toward more valuable fish.
  • The one-albino and one-cursed entry pattern for each major location.

What is still unknown

  • Exact catch probability for each fish
  • Exact bait probability bonuses
  • Exact White Bait probability increase
  • Exact pond breeding timing and probability
  • Whether every listed best time is an exclusive spawn condition

FAQ

Fishing FAQ

Short answers for the new dataset, albino fish, cursed fish, bait and money questions.

Fishing unlocks during early story progression. We are still verifying the exact day and event across current Japanese guides.

Once fishing has been unlocked, you can fish directly at designated fishing spots without carrying a separate fishing item in your inventory.

Progress the early story until fishing becomes available at waterside spots. The exact first unlock day should still be treated cautiously unless a stronger source pins it down.

Yes. The fishing page now uses a 41-entry fish database with season, location, time and variant filters.

In the imported PhyllisY dataset, yes. They should be treated as base prices rather than guaranteed final sale prices after every possible bonus or modifier.

This page uses the term Rare Albino Fish for the current player-compiled six-entry high-value variant set. Each listed entry is worth ¥2,500 base in the source dataset.

White Bait improves targeting of white/Nushi fish, but current evidence does not support calling it mandatory. Exact odds remain unverified.

Yes. The current imported dataset lists one cursed-fish entry for each major fishing location, all tied to Midnight and a ¥99 base sell price.

Usually be careful. Higher-value fish are often better sold raw, while cheaper fish can be better processing candidates depending on the route.

No strict requirement is currently supported. White Bait improves targeting, but Japanese and AppMedia evidence indicate that white fish can still appear naturally at very low rates without it.
