Midnight Event Guide
Village in the Shade Red Cell Phone Ghost Guide
After picking up the Bright Red Cell Phone (真っ赤な携帯電話), wait for it to ring again. When the pursuing ghost appears, do not answer the call. Keep the phone ringing and enter the phone booth southeast of 田上雑貨店 / Sazanka General Store. Once you are trapped inside and the phone rings again, answer it to receive Broken Cell Phone (壊れた携帯電話).
If you answer before entering the booth, the booth event will not progress until the phone rings again. Wait for the retry ring, then enter without answering.
English anomaly and item names currently follow the site's Japanese-release terminology and may be updated after the official English localization can be verified on October 27, 2026.

Core walkthrough
The correct phone and booth sequence
01
Follow the ringing phone
During Midnight exploration from around mid-Summer onward, listen for a ringing phone and follow the sound. The initial spawn is not documented as a fixed point or guaranteed every Midnight.
02
Pick up the Bright Red Cell Phone
Find and pick up 真っ赤な携帯電話. The ringing stops temporarily. Wait for the next call; no normal shop, sell-price or stack behavior is asserted.
03
Do not answer the second ring
After some time, the phone rings again and a pursuing ghost appears. Contact can damage you. Do not answer while outside the booth.
04
Enter the Phone Booth
While the phone is still ringing, head southeast from 田上雑貨店 / Sazanka General Store and enter the phone booth.
05
Wait inside
The correct sequence traps you inside and the booth glass turns red. Stay inside and wait for the phone to ring again.
06
Answer only after the final ring
When the phone rings again while you are trapped inside, answer it. You receive 壊れた携帯電話 / Broken Cell Phone.
07
Take it to Sazanka
Talk to Sazanka while possessing the Broken Cell Phone. The current source reports both plush rewards; exact consumption and repeatability remain undocumented.

Why Doesn't the Phone Booth Event Start?
The phone must still be ringing when you enter. If you answered the call first, the event will not advance at that moment. Wait until the phone rings again, then enter the booth without answering.
Answering early temporarily removes the pursuer; it is not documented as a permanent quest failure. The practical recovery is to wait for another ring and retry the booth sequence.
