Catalog Completion Guide
Village in the Shade Catalog Guide
The current Catalog contains 2,428 entries. Steam achievements reward 300, 500 and 1,000 registered entries, with Cataloger awarded for completing the full Catalog.
Full completion remains a postgame goal, so you do not need to finish everything before the ending.

Counts item quantity?
No — distinct entries
Full row database here?
No — completion guide
The game tracks Catalog registration by distinct entries. The exact trigger for registering an entry is not strong enough in current sources to promise that every item registers permanently the instant it is picked up.
Steam milestones
Catalog achievement milestones
These four records are reused directly from the canonical 52-achievement dataset.
`300 Entries`, `500 Entries` and `1,000 Entries` count distinct registered entries. `Cataloger` means complete the Catalog; it does not mean owning 2,428 items simultaneously.

What counts toward the Catalog?
The Catalog is much broader than fish, crops and livestock. These are completion-research examples, not a claim of a complete official taxonomy or per-category count.
Tools and hunting
Tools, hunting gear and hunting licenses/proofs are separate source families to check.
Livestock
Animal species and animal products may have different collection roles; do not merge them automatically.
Processed goods
Machine-produced goods are a major completion area, not just a recipe side system.
Furniture and decor
Furniture, small objects, floor coverings, shelves, garden trees and color/dye variants appear in completion research.
Materials and key items
Scrap/waste materials, special materials and key items can occupy late Catalog gaps.
Crops, fish and cursed items
Natural-resource entries and special Cursed/Nushi systems should be checked through their own guides.
Processing
Processed goods are easy to undercount
Many Catalog candidates are produced through machines rather than found directly.
The current repository processing page contains a smaller structured dataset than the 179-item AppMedia processing database cited in completion research. Treat processed goods as a major Catalog area, but do not claim a one-to-one count of processed records and Catalog entries.

Check rotation and variants late
Furniture is a common late-stage blocker in current completion research.
When you are missing a small number of entries, check furniture, small objects, floor coverings, shelves, garden trees and possible color/dye variants. The evidence supports checking these sources; it does not establish a universal refresh timer or prove that every variant is a separate Catalog entry.

Best way to build Catalog progress
Use this as an editorial order, not a guaranteed year-by-year route.
01
Play normally and register broad common categories.
02
Finish processing and crafting-heavy sources.
03
Complete shops, buildings, livestock and hunting unlocks.
04
Push relationship, recipe and event rewards.
05
Use postgame for late cleanup.
06
Check random furniture and color-variant sources.
07
Compare the remaining gaps by Catalog category.
08
Use the in-game numbering to identify the owning system.
Missing entries
Missing the last 100 Catalog entries?
Check category ownership before repeating ordinary resource loops.
Final-gap troubleshooting
Missing the last 10–50 entries?
The final gaps are usually category-specific, not solved by owning more copies of common items.
Use the Catalog first
- Open the in-game Catalog and identify the missing category or number range.
- Compare that gap with known category ownership rather than guessing from inventory.
- Check random furniture/decor, recipe/relationship and special-system rewards.
Then check sources
- Review unpurchased, unbuilt and unprocessed variants.
- Check late/postgame rewards, key items and hunting or livestock sources.
- Remember that milestones count distinct registered entries, not item quantity.
Can you finish after the ending?
Yes. Current Japanese postgame/completion guides explicitly treat full Catalog completion as a postgame goal. Most entries are obtained during normal progression, but some late systems and rewards require continued play.
Keep Lost Books separate
The site tracks 55 Lost Books as a separate collection system. Do not add them to the 2,428 Catalog total unless game data explicitly links their IDs.

Catalog questions
How many Catalog entries are there?
The current Catalog contains 2,428 entries.
What are the Catalog achievement milestones?
The official Steam milestones are 300 Entries, 500 Entries, 1,000 Entries and Cataloger for completing the full Catalog.
Does the Catalog count item quantity?
No. Achievement milestones are based on distinct registered Catalog entries, not the number of copies currently owned.
Can I finish the Catalog after the ending?
Yes. Current Japanese postgame and completion guides explicitly treat full Catalog completion as a postgame goal.
Are Lost Books part of the Catalog?
Lost Books are tracked as a separate 55-book collection on this site. Do not assume they occupy ordinary Catalog entry slots unless game data explicitly links them.
What are the easiest Catalog entries to miss?
Furniture and decor variants, random-source entries, processed goods, relationship/reward items and late or postgame rewards are the most useful categories to check first.
Why am I stuck near full Catalog completion?
The last gaps often come from category-specific or random-source items rather than common crops or fish. Use the in-game Catalog category and numbering to identify which system owns the missing entry.
Is the Catalog permanently missable?
Current completion research does not treat it as permanently missable and supports postgame cleanup, although this guide does not claim every individual source is infinitely repeatable without specific evidence.
