After the Ending
Village in the Shade Postgame Guide
Yes. After either ending, you can save clear data and continue living in the village. Core farming and life-sim systems remain available, while postgame adds the Miracle Whistle and a shortcut to the Quarry.
Postgame — Short Answer
Keep playing?
Yes
Major new unlock
Miracle Whistle
Garden–Quarry shortcut
¥50000
New Game+
Not verified
Both endings share the same core playable postgame. Some dialogue and appearance/story-presentation details can remain ending-dependent.
Clear data
The ending does not permanently stop village life
After the credits, save clear data when prompted if you want to continue the same village.
Save clear data, then continue
Current Japanese-source research supports a clear-data save that loads back into playable postgame village life. This is continuation of the same village, not a fresh New Game+ loop.
Keep a pre-ending save
If you want to see both final choices easily, keep a save from before the final choice or avoid overwriting the return point after seeing the first ending. If clear data is not saved, current source wording returns you to the morning before the final sequence so you can repeat it or choose differently.
New after clear
What unlocks after story clear?
These are the specific post-clear additions currently supported by the canonical data.
奇跡の呼笛
Miracle Whistle
- Unlock
- Story clear
- Where it works
- Garden only
Time stops advancing while the player remains in their garden. Time resumes when the player leaves the garden. This is not an all-map or all-indoor time stop, and no machine, animal or crop-timer behavior is inferred.
Postgame construction
Open the Backyard Shortcut
Kisuke handles the shortcut between your garden and the Quarry. The canonical building record lists ¥50000, 3 days and no separate material cost.
This is a shortcut unlock, not a new map region or a claim that every building unlocks automatically at the ending.
See the Buildings databaseDo not confuse the whistles: Miracle Whistle stops time in the garden; Rain Whistle is a separate Okami-buchi item associated with making rain more likely the next day.
Still available
What continues after the ending?
These systems are ongoing village life, not automatic postgame unlocks. Their existing requirements still apply.
Farming and livestock
Keep working fields, caring for animals and finishing farm upgrades.
Open guide →Fishing and collections
Finish fish targets, including Nushi and Cursed Fish when those systems remain incomplete.
Open guide →Chief Deliveries
Complete the Village Chief Delivery Catalog without treating ordinary requests as postgame-only.
Open guide →Night Anomalies
Resolve remaining night encounters and collect their possible themed rewards.
Open guide →Buildings and licenses
Finish construction, remaining livestock unlocks and Hunting Licenses using their existing requirements.
Open guide →House progression
Review the Improved House, Large House and Basement chain separately from the postgame shortcut.
Open guide →Lost Books and full completion
The current collection has 55 Lost Books. Some books depend on later story, postgame or anomaly conditions, so full completion requires story progression through the ending. That does not mean all 55 books are postgame-only.
Complete all 55 Lost BooksThe seasonal calendar continues
The normal calendar remains useful after clear. Current walkthrough evidence shows the Winter 27 Crop Contest and Winter 28 Year-End Festival after the ending. Continue seasonal contests and festivals without assuming every one-time reward repeats indefinitely.
Postgame goals
A useful cleanup order
Treat this as a menu of goals, not a mandatory 100% checklist.
Does your ending change the postgame?
The core playable postgame remains the same after 「一緒に帰ろ」 or 「ここに残る」, while some dialogue and appearance or story-presentation details can differ. Neither choice is labeled Good, Bad or True.
See both ending choicesIs there New Game+?
Current reliable sources document clear-data continuation but do not establish a separate New Game+ or carry-over mode. This guide therefore does not claim that NG+ exists or that it definitely does not.
