Home Upgrade Guide

Village in the Shade House Upgrades Guide

The documented home progression is Base House → Improved House → Large House → Basement. Order the next renovation through Kisuke after the previous stage and required resources are available.

The first home state has no separate canonical Japanese construction record. The three named renovations below are the current authority for costs, materials, build time and documented function.

House Upgrade Order

The order is a prerequisite chain. The Garden–Quarry shortcut is intentionally excluded because it belongs to postgame construction, not home renovation.

Requires Improved House.

Basement

Improved House

How to Upgrade to the Improved House

Choose きれいなお家 in Kisuke's 改築 menu after the construction service becomes available.

  • Stable ID: improved-house
  • Requirement: Starting home; no earlier house renovation record is required.
  • Cost: ¥8,000 and Wood ×100 · Stone ×100.
  • Time: 2 days listed.
  • Documented function: A slightly larger home with a kitchen-equipped room. The current source also associates this first home renovation with cooking access and later interior options.

Large House

How to Upgrade to the Large House

Complete きれいなお家 first, then select 大きな家 in the renovation menu.

  • Stable ID: large-house
  • Previous stage: Improved House.
  • Cost: ¥40,000 and Wood ×200 · Hard Stone ×100.
  • Time: 2 days listed.
  • Documented function: The second floor becomes larger and exterior changes become available. No separate storage or marriage gate is claimed.

Basement

How to Unlock the Basement

The Basement is the third documented home renovation, after the Large House.

  • Stable ID: basement
  • Previous stage: Large House.
  • Cost: ¥80,000 and Wood ×400 · Stone ×600 · Weeds ×250.
  • Time: 2 days listed.

What it does

The verified function is simply that a basement is added. Current data does not establish extra storage, product aging, cooking, furniture slots, stamina, marriage or family requirements.

Construction

Kisuke, timing and the active-project rule

House renovations use the canonical construction-service record. The guide keeps duration separate from an exact calendar completion promise.

Where

Kisuke's 樹木建設 service or its construction notebook.

Hours

10:00–17:00 on weekdays; closed Saturday and Sunday.

Queue

The checked Japanese renovation guidance says another building or renovation cannot start until the active project is finished.

Access during work

Whether the player can enter the house during construction is not independently verified.

Story gate: Kisuke construction becomes available after some story progression, but the current source set does not establish one exact Rule, season or calendar date for the house-renovation menu.

Priority

Which house upgrade should I prioritize?

There is no universal best house level. Use the documented function that matches your current bottleneck.

  • Need home cooking? The first renovation is the relevant documented functional step.
  • Need more indoor space or exterior choices? The Large House is the relevant stage.
  • Need the basement itself? Finish the Large House first and reserve the ¥80,000 plus materials.
  • Need production sooner? Compare house spending with animal housing and utility buildings; this page does not invent a universal ROI ranking.

Keep systems separate

House upgrades are not every upgrade

Several common questions belong to other guides or remain unverified here.

  • Farm Expansion adds outdoor land; it is not a house renovation.
  • Bag upgrades concern carried inventory; house renovations are not treated as bag capacity, and no dedicated bag-upgrade route is currently published.
  • Buildings owns the full construction catalog.
  • Postgame owns the Garden–Quarry shortcut.

Troubleshooting

Why isn't the next house upgrade available?

Check the gates that are actually supported before treating a missing menu item as a bug.

1.The previous house stage is not complete: Improved House comes before Large House, and Large House comes before Basement.
2.Kisuke's construction service or the renovation menu is not available yet because story progression has not reached the documented construction access point.
3.Another building or renovation is already active; the checked guidance documents one active construction project at a time.
4.You do not have the listed money or every required material in the canonical record.
5.Kisuke is outside the 10:00–17:00 weekday service window, or it is Saturday/Sunday.
6.You are looking for the Garden–Quarry shortcut in the house chain; that is a separate postgame project.

No separate season gate, date gate, NPC relationship gate or exact story-rule gate is published for these three house records in the current research. Do not invent one to explain a missing option.

Boundary

The Backyard Shortcut is separate

The postgame Garden ↔ Quarry shortcut is not a fourth house tier.

After the ending, Kisuke can handle the documented Garden–Quarry shortcut for ¥50,000 and 3 days. It is a separate postgame construction option, not part of Improved House → Large House → Basement.

FAQ

House Upgrade FAQ

Visible answers use the same verified data boundary as the page and its FAQ schema.

How do I upgrade my house?

Progress the story until Kisuke's construction service is available, then visit 樹木建設 during its weekday hours and order the next house renovation after meeting the listed prerequisite, money and material requirements.

What is the first house upgrade?

The first documented renovation is きれいなお家, the current canonical Improved House record. It requires the starting home state but has no separate previous renovation record.

How do I unlock the Large House?

Complete きれいなお家 first, then order 大きな家 through Kisuke with Wood ×200, Hard Stone ×100, ¥40,000 and the listed two-day build time.

How do I unlock the Basement?

Complete 大きな家 first, then order 地下室 through Kisuke with Wood ×400, Stone ×600, Weeds ×250, ¥80,000 and the listed two-day build time.

How much does each house upgrade cost?

Improved House costs ¥8,000, Large House costs ¥40,000 and Basement costs ¥80,000. The derived total for all three is ¥128,000.

How long does each house upgrade take?

Each documented house renovation lists two days. The data records a duration, not a guaranteed calendar completion time or morning-after rule.

Can Kisuke upgrade my house while another building is under construction?

No. The checked construction guidance says another building or renovation cannot be started while a current construction project is active. Finish the existing project first.

Do I need the Large House for marriage?

No direct source in the current research establishes Large House or Basement as a marriage or family requirement. This guide does not claim either one is mandatory for marriage.

Does the Basement increase storage?

The Basement record confirms that a basement is added, but it does not verify a storage-capacity increase, item-aging system or cellar mechanic.

Is the Basement the final house upgrade?

Basement is the final documented stage in the current canonical chain. That is a data boundary, not a claim that future content could never add another renovation.

Is the Garden–Quarry shortcut another house upgrade?

No. It is a separate postgame Kisuke construction project costing ¥50,000 and taking three days; it is not House Upgrade IV.
