Farm Progression Guide

Village in the Shade Farm Expansion Guide

Open the two blocked garden areas in order, pay the displayed amount at each sign, and plan your tools before you spend. The first expansion maps to Field 2 at ¥5,000; the second maps to Field 3 at ¥20,000.

Short answer: look for the signed iron fence near the house. You need money, not a documented material bundle. Expansion can be worth it for clean crop space, but initial tools may not clear every obstacle in the new land.

Source boundary: story chapter, season, calendar date, refund behavior and exact tool/tier requirements for each obstacle remain undocumented in the checked source set.

How to Expand the Farm

The purchase is made at the blocked entrance, not through a builder, shop or separate crafting menu in the current source.

01

Search near the house

Explore the garden close to your home and look for an iron fence or gate that has a sign attached.

02

Read the sign

Interact with the sign. The game shows the amount needed for that expansion location.

03

Pay and enter

If your money is at least the displayed price, pay it to open the blocked land. Repeat at the nearby second gate when you are ready.

The verified interaction is a sign plus payment. No separate materials, builder appointment, operating hours or construction days are asserted here.

Expansion mapping

Field 1 → Field 2 → Field 3

The Japanese source numbers the playable fields as first, second and third. This page uses that sequence for the public Field 1/2/3 handoff.

Starting field

Field 1

The initial farm area. It is available before either paid expansion and is the practical place to establish crops, animals and basic tools.

First purchase · ¥5,000

Field 2

The first additional area in the numbered sequence. Unlock it at the first signed iron fence, then plan its larger regular crop grids in the Best Farm Layout guide.

Second purchase · ¥20,000

Field 3

The second additional area, reached through the nearby next signed gate after the first purchase. It is the later large-field handoff in the numbered sequence.

Mapping note: the source uses 1個目の畑, 2個目の畑 and 3個目の畑. It does not display the English labels “Field 1,” “Field 2” or “Field 3,” so the mapping is based on numbered field order, not a separate English UI screenshot.

Money first

Expansion Costs and Gates

There are two separate payments. The total below is arithmetic, not a third purchase option.

2Field 3¥20,000Nearby second signed iron fence; first expansion sequence
Derived totalBoth additional areas¥25,000¥5,000 + ¥20,000; not a bundle price

No material cost, story gate, season gate, date gate, refund rule or construction timer is published in the checked expansion source. Unknown values are intentionally left open.

Decision guide

Expand Now or Upgrade Tools First?

The right order depends on whether the newly opened area will be usable immediately, not only on whether you can afford the sign.

Expand now

Choose the land first when…

  • You have the full displayed payment and still retain a working cash buffer.
  • You need the extra field footprint for crop volume, paddies or a future layout.
  • Your current tools can already make enough of the new space productive.
  • You want to start planning Field 2 or Field 3 before the next season.

Tools first

Upgrade tools first when…

  • Your initial tools leave tree trunks or weeds blocking the newly paid area.
  • The expansion would consume your money without increasing usable production yet.
  • You still need a higher Pickaxe, Axe or Sickle stage for your actual obstacle route.
  • You are expanding for future capacity rather than an immediate crop deadline.

This is a practical recommendation from the documented obstacle warning. It is not a universal unlock order: the source does not provide an exact obstacle-to-tool-tier matrix, so check the Tool Upgrades guide and your own obstacle prompt before spending.

Obstacle warning

What Is Blocking the New Land?

Paid access and usable access are separate questions.

Tree trunks

The expansion source warns that initial tools may not break the trunks in the opened area. The exact required tool and tier are not independently verified here.

Weeds

Weeds may remain after the gate opens when you only have starting tools. Do not count every visible tile as immediately plantable.

Open questions

Exact obstacle locations, tool names, upgrade tiers, stamina cost, respawn behavior and whether all objects share one rule remain null in the research audit.

Do not convert “initial tools may leave trunks and weeds” into a guessed claim such as “the Axe always needs Steel” or “every weed requires a Sickle tier.” The source supports the bottleneck, not that detailed matrix.

Handoff

What to Do After Unlocking Field 2 or 3

Use expansion to change your layout, not to duplicate every farming mechanic on this page.

Plan the new field

After the land is clear enough to use, move larger crop grids to the cleaner additional fields. The Best Farm Layout guide owns Field 1–3 geometry, Sprinkler block recommendations, Scarecrow planning, paddy spacing, trees and livestock repurposing.

Keep the system rules separate

Use Farming for crop, soil and season rules; Tool Upgrades for upgrade order; and Paddy Fields for Plow and paddy mechanics.

FAQ

Farm Expansion FAQ

These answers preserve the same verified and unresolved boundaries as the guide above.

How many times can I expand the farm?

The current source documents two expansion locations. The first costs ¥5,000 and the nearby second location costs ¥20,000.

Where do I expand the farm?

Search the garden near the house for an iron fence with a sign. Interact with the sign to see the required payment and open the blocked area.

Does the first expansion unlock Field 2?

This guide maps the first numbered expansion to Field 2 and the second to Field 3. The Japanese source calls them the second and third fields rather than displaying those English IDs.

Do I need story progress, a season or a specific day?

No story chapter, season, calendar date or separate material requirement is reliably documented for the expansion interaction. The confirmed gate is having enough money for the displayed price.

What is the total cost for both expansions?

¥25,000, derived by adding the two documented payments: ¥5,000 + ¥20,000. It is not a separate in-game bundle price.

Can I clear the new land immediately?

Not always. The source warns that initial tools may leave tree trunks and weeds that cannot yet be removed, so newly opened land can be partly unusable until the relevant tool progress is available.

Which tool tier clears each obstacle?

The current source confirms the obstacle types but does not provide a reliable obstacle-by-obstacle tool and tier table. Use the Tool Upgrades guide for verified upgrade data and do not infer a tier from this page.

Can I get the expansion money back?

Refunds, cancellation and rollback are not documented in the current source set. Treat a paid expansion as a permanent purchase unless the game itself shows a different rule.
