Paddy fields are a separate cultivation layout for water-loving crops. Prepare them with the Plow, then use the crop and progression data below to plan Rice, Wasabi and later paddy planting.

Complete the current Tobari Helping Ticket task. Its reward record identifies the Plow / スキ as the paddy-field tool and lists Rice and Wasabi seed access as a follow-on unlock.

The structured acquisition note describes a next-day event after the task. Treat Spring 16+ as a progression hint, not a hard universal delivery date.

Clear a workable area and select the Plow. The exact footprint and maximum paddy count are not documented in the current source set.
How to use the Plow
Choose the right tool for the soil job
The safest practical workflow follows the tool records without inventing a construction cost or placement formula.
- 1. Clear the plot. Remove nearby clutter and leave room to move around the new tiles.
- 2. Equip the Plow. The Hoe is for ordinary farmland and ridges; the Plow is the paddy-field tool.
- 3. Make the paddy layout. Start with the area you need for the next crop rather than assuming every field must be converted.
- 4. Plant a compatible crop. Use the crop database and seed availability instead of treating every seed as paddy-compatible.
- 5. Maintain the plot. The current tool note specifically keeps weeds relevant; exact water/refill behavior remains a documented boundary.

The range table records the paddy area for each upgrade tier. It does not establish build cost, speed, yield or maximum-field rules.

These are the current structured crop records with a Rice field location.
Spring
Rice
Location: Rice field. Unlock note: Obtain sickle.
Spring / Summer
Wasabi
Location: Rice field. Unlock note: Obtain sickle.
Autumn / Winter
Lotus Root
Location: Rice field. Unlock note: Year 2.
Rice and Wasabi are also named in the Plow record as prepared paddy crops. Lotus Root is listed in the crop database as a Rice field crop with a Year 2 unlock; keep that progression gate separate from the Plow unlock.
Greenhouse extension
Use the Greenhouse for space and season flexibility
The Greenhouse record supports paddy fields, crops and fruit trees regardless of the outside season.
The Greenhouse is a later progression building unlocked through the High-Quality Goods delivery category. It can host paddy fields, but it does not replace Tobari's Plow path. For the separate building chain, see How to Unlock the Greenhouse.
Sprinklers are documented as radius-based field watering tools, but the current record does not establish their compatibility with paddy fields or Greenhouse layouts. This page therefore makes no sprinkler promise for paddies.

How do I make a paddy field?
Use the Plow (スキ), not the Hoe. The current guide data describes the Plow as the tool that converts farmland into paddy-field tiles.
When do I get the Plow?
The current progression record points to Tobari's Helping Ticket task and a Spring 16+ hint. The follow-up event and player progression can affect the exact delivery timing, so Spring 16 is not a guaranteed date for every save.
Which crops use paddy fields?

Do paddy fields need normal watering?
