Greenhouse Unlock Guide

How to Unlock the Greenhouse in Village in the Shade

The Greenhouse is unlocked by completing the High-Quality Goods section of the Village Chief Delivery Catalog. That requires branded crops and livestock products earned through contest progression, plus the other required high-quality delivery groups.

Greenhouse Unlock — Short Answer

Complete High-Quality Goods deliveries

The required groups are branded crops, branded livestock products, branded animal fibers and rare gems. After the category is complete, the Greenhouse becomes available as a construction option. A known construction requirement is Glass Rod ×150.

Japanese item and system names are retained where useful because the official English localization has not yet launched. English terminology may be updated after the October 27 localization release.

Unlock

Complete High-Quality Goods

The luxury category completion is the gate. Winning a contest helps supply the branded inputs, but it does not directly unlock the building.

Build

Construct through Kisuke

Once the option appears, visit Kisuke and provide the known construction materials. Glass Rod ×150 is a build requirement, not the delivery unlock condition.

Unlock Flow

Contest → branding → delivery → Greenhouse

Contests handle many branded inputs. Rare Gems are a separate branch of the same High-Quality Goods category.

Separate branch: Rare Gems join the category completion, but they do not come from contests. Gather them through mining and other resource routes.

Branding Crops

Gold Star is not the same as Branded

The contest step is what turns a qualifying crop into the branded item the delivery category asks for.

01

Reach Gold Star

Raise Rice, Tea or Soybean through the normal quality progression.

02

Enter the Crop Contest

Current canonical guidance says a Gold-star crop earns S Rank in the Crop division.

03

Collect the branded crop

That branded Rice, Tea or Soybean is what satisfies the branded delivery requirement. One win brands that crop, not every crop.

Branding Livestock

Brand the animal that makes the product

Livestock contest entries are animals, not their Milk, Egg, Wool or other products.

Milk · Egg · Truffle

A branded Cow produces Branded Milk, a branded Chicken produces Branded Egg and a branded Pig produces Branded Truffle. The specific animal must be branded.

S Rank setup

For Livestock, maximum Mood plus Affection 5 gives S Rank. At maximum Mood, Affection 0–1 gives B, 2–4 gives A and 5 gives S.

Plan contest entries

Cow Ghost warning

If the Cow Ghost is affecting your livestock barn, animals may be unable to maintain maximum Mood, blocking an S Rank even at maximum Affection.

Animal Fibers

Cashmere and Horse Tail are separate bottlenecks

Wool follows the same branded-livestock route. The two less-obvious fibers need their own contest distinctions.

  • Cashmere: Current patched guidance requires two Livestock S-Rank results to unlock the Cashmere Goat. If it does not appear, make sure the game is fully updated. Then brand the Cashmere Goat and collect branded Cashmere.
  • Horse Tail: Horse uses its own Horse Contest division. Brand the Horse there, then collect branded Horse Tail. Exact Horse S-Rank numeric thresholds remain unverified.

Rare Gems

The non-contest group

Rare Gems are part of the High-Quality Goods category, but contests do not create them.

  • Sapphire×5
  • Amethyst×5
  • Red Crystal×5

Building the Greenhouse

Glass Rod ×150 is the known material requirement

The page intentionally leaves unknown construction fields unknown rather than turning them into a guessed cost, time or footprint.

Known construction material

Glass Rod ×150

No money cost, build time, footprint or max count is rendered because the canonical Greenhouse record does not verify them.

Derived conversion: one Glass Rod uses five Glass Fragments, so 150 Glass Rods represents 750 Glass Fragments if you produce the whole requirement from fragments. The game requirement is Glass Rod ×150, not a separate “750 fragments” catalog entry.

Visit Kisuke from 10:00–17:00 Monday–Friday. Only one construction or renovation project can be active at a time.

What It Unlocks

The Greenhouse solves season dependence

Its core value is access and flexibility, not an unverified growth-speed or yield bonus.

Out-of-season crops

Normal crops can grow independently of the outside season inside the Greenhouse.

Fruit trees

Fruit trees can grow inside the Greenhouse.

Paddy fields

Paddy fields can be created inside the Greenhouse.

Mango · Cacao · Banana

Current project data identifies these as Greenhouse-related crop unlocks after progression.

Important Mud Seed Exception

Mud Seed planted inside the Greenhouse still produces a crop based on the outside season. The Greenhouse does not override this special rule.

Still Locked?

Why the Greenhouse may not be available

Check the actual dependency that is missing instead of repeating the contest step.

One or more High-Quality Goods groups is incomplete.
Your crops are Gold Star but have not won Crop Contest S Rank and become branded.
The correct Cow, Chicken or Pig has not been branded for Milk, Egg or Truffle.
The Cashmere Goat has not been unlocked or branded yet.
Horse Tail needs Horse Contest branding, not the Livestock division.
The Rare Gems group is incomplete; contests do not solve it.
You completed deliveries but have not checked Kisuke’s construction list.
Another construction or renovation project is already active.

Plan Ahead

A practical Greenhouse preparation order

This is a flexible planning order, not a guaranteed fastest route or exact unlock date.

  1. 1

    Start raising crop quality early.

  2. 2

    Prepare contest animals and Mood/Affection.

  3. 3

Use Crop contests for branded Rice, Tea and Soybean.

  4. 4

Use Livestock contests for branded Milk, Egg, Truffle and Wool.

  5. 5

Progress toward and brand the Cashmere Goat.

  6. 6

Use the Horse Contest for branded Horse Tail.

  7. 7

    Gather Rare Gems in parallel.

  8. 8

Stockpile Glass Rod materials before the build option appears.

Contest scarcity: There are four contest dates per year and one division per date. Crop, Livestock and Horse branding compete for the same Day 27 slots, so plan several seasons ahead if the Greenhouse is your main goal.

FAQ

Greenhouse unlock questions

How do I unlock the Greenhouse?

Complete the High-Quality Goods section of the Village Chief Delivery Catalog. That section requires branded crops, branded livestock products, branded animal fibers and rare gems.

Do I unlock the Greenhouse by winning a contest?

Not directly. Contest wins create branded crops and animals needed for the High-Quality Goods deliveries. Completing that delivery category is what unlocks the Greenhouse.

What branded crops do I need?

Branded Rice ×5, Branded Tea ×5 and Branded Soybean ×5.

How do I get branded livestock products?

Earn S Rank with the relevant animal in the Livestock contest. A branded Cow produces Branded Milk, a branded Chicken produces Branded Egg and a branded Pig produces Branded Truffle.

How do I get branded Cashmere?

Unlock the Cashmere Goat through two Livestock S-Rank results under current patched guidance, then brand that goat and collect branded Cashmere. Update the game if it does not appear after meeting the condition.

How many Glass Rods does the Greenhouse need?

The known Greenhouse construction requirement is 150 Glass Rods. The complete material list is not asserted here.

Can I grow crops out of season in the Greenhouse?

Yes. Normal crops can grow independently of the outside season inside the Greenhouse. Mud Seed is the exception and still follows the outside season.
