Farming Guide
Village in the Shade Fruit Trees Guide
Fruit Trees / 果樹 are a separate long-term farming option from ordinary seasonal crops. They use their own planting and space rules, and the Greenhouse supports fruit-tree growing, including verified examples such as Mango, Cacao and Banana.
English crop, tree, and item names currently follow the site's Japanese-release terminology and may be updated after the official English localization can be verified on October 27, 2026.

Immediate answer
Plant a 苗木, keep the site clear, then wait for its season
Get the right sapling from 田上雑貨店 / Sazanka General Store, place it in a valid area, and leave room around it. The Greenhouse supports fruit trees; Mango, Cacao and Banana are the confirmed Greenhouse-only group. The source set does not verify a universal tile count, repeated harvest interval or removal rule.

Spacing
How Much Space Do Fruit Trees Need?
The strongest honest answer is a boundary, not a fake grid.
Exact universal answer
Not sufficiently verified
No reliable source in the current audit establishes a universal occupied footprint or minimum surrounding clearance. Do not publish a 1×1, 2×2, 3×3 or 5×5 rule for every tree.
The verified placement warning is simpler: nearby obstacles can stop a sapling's growth. The source does not enumerate whether every crop, path, Sprinkler, building, decoration or other tree blocks every stage.
Source-backed planning advice
Two spaces apart is an arrangement, not a law
The Field 2/3 layout source uses outer strips and recommends planting fruit trees two spaces apart in its illustration. Use that as a conservative starting layout only after the individual planting prompt accepts the location. It is not proof that two tiles are always enough.
See Field 1/2/3 layout ownership →Seasons
Outdoor vs Greenhouse Behavior
Separate planting season, fruiting season and Greenhouse eligibility.
| Rule | Outdoors | Greenhouse |
|---|---|---|
| Fruit Trees allowed | Yes for the ten seasonal orchard trees | Yes; system support confirmed |
| Planting | Year-round for the listed saplings | Year-round for supported trees |
| Fruiting | Named Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter season | Mango, Cacao and Banana are explicitly year-round |
| Watering | No watering to maturity in checked descriptions | No separate Sprinkler behavior verified |
| Space | Nearby obstacles can stop growth; exact clearance unknown | No separate Greenhouse footprint rule verified |
The Greenhouse removes the outside-season restriction for supported farming systems, but this page does not convert that into a claim that every tree fruits forever or that all ten seasonal trees share the same Greenhouse matrix.

Can Fruit Trees Grow in the Greenhouse?
Yes — with a precise distinction between system support and confirmed exclusive trees.
Direct answer
Yes. The Greenhouse supports Fruit Trees.
Mango, Cacao and Banana are not the complete Fruit Tree list; they are the three current examples individually confirmed as Greenhouse-only and added after Greenhouse construction. The other ten trees remain ordinary seasonal orchard records with system-level Greenhouse support, not a separate Greenhouse-only tag.

Harvest
Growth, Harvest and Processing
Use the known first-growth boundary without inventing repeated-harvest rules.
Initial growth
The current source set records 12 days for the ordinary orchard list and Mango/Banana. Cacao's direct growth value is not isolated, so it stays unknown. These are first-growth/first-harvest timings, not a promise of a 12-day regrowth cycle.
Harvest boundary
The sources identify what season the tree fruits, but do not independently publish a universal harvest interaction, fruit-per-harvest yield, repeated harvest interval or mature-tree persistence. Do not assume a tool, automatic drop or daily production.
Selected processing
Examples include Jam, Dryer and selected Brewing Barrel routes: Grape Wine, Mango Spirit, Dried Mango, Banana Jam and Dried Banana are documented examples. The full machine table belongs to the Processing guide.
Quality and Delivery
Fruit Trees vs Crop Quality and Chief Delivery
Do not merge fruit-tree products into unrelated crop systems.
Quality and Branding remain open
The current source set does not verify Copper/Silver/Gold quality, Branded tree fruit or Crop Contest eligibility for Fruit Trees. Keep normal crop-quality mechanics on the Crop Quality guide instead of applying them automatically here.
See Crop Quality ownership →Chief Delivery Fruit is narrower
The canonical Fruit category explicitly contains seasonal groups for Cherry, Ume, Peach, Pear, Persimmon, Apple, Yuzu, Mandarin, Lemon. It does not currently list Grape, Mango, Cacao or Banana. Treat that as the current delivery-category boundary, not proof that every fruit item is accepted everywhere.

FAQ
Fruit Tree Questions
Short answers for planting, spacing, Greenhouse behavior, seasons and troubleshooting.
How do I plant Fruit Trees?
Obtain a verified 苗木 / sapling, open a valid Field or Greenhouse planting spot for that tree, leave the site clear, and use the game's planting interaction. Sazanka's shop flow and the sapling's in-game description are the source-backed parts; the exact button animation is not restated here.
How much space does a Fruit Tree need?
The exact universal occupied footprint and surrounding clearance are not sufficiently verified. What is verified is that nearby obstacles can stop growth. A Field 2/3 layout source recommends planting trees two spaces apart in its illustrated edge arrangement, but that is planning advice, not a guaranteed minimum for every tree.
Can Fruit Trees grow in the Greenhouse?
Yes. The Greenhouse supports fruit trees. Mango, Cacao and Banana are individually confirmed Greenhouse-only examples; the other seasonal orchard trees are covered by the system-level Greenhouse support statement.
Can Mango grow in the Greenhouse?
Yes. Mango / マンゴー is added after Greenhouse construction, is listed as Greenhouse-only and fruits year-round there.
Can Cacao grow in the Greenhouse?
Yes. Cacao / カカオ is added after Greenhouse construction and is listed as a Greenhouse-only fruit-tree crop. Its direct growth-day record is still unknown.
Can Banana grow in the Greenhouse?
Yes. Banana / バナナ is added after Greenhouse construction, is listed as Greenhouse-only and fruits year-round there.
Can Fruit Trees grow outside?
Yes for the ten seasonal orchard trees in the current list: Cherry, Ume, Peach, Grape, Pear, Apple, Persimmon, Mandarin, Lemon and Yuzu have named outdoor fruiting seasons. Mango, Cacao and Banana are the confirmed Greenhouse-only group.
Do Fruit Trees grow out of season?
Outdoors, the source gives each ordinary orchard tree a named fruiting season, so do not promise out-of-season fruit. The Greenhouse removes outside-season limits for its supported fruit-tree system and explicitly gives Mango, Cacao and Banana year-round behavior; the exact per-tree off-season matrix for the ten seasonal trees is not separately published.
Do Fruit Trees need watering?
Checked fruit-tree descriptions say watering is not needed to reach maturity. That does not establish every post-maturity or Greenhouse watering interaction, so the page does not claim a Sprinkler effect.
Do Sprinklers water Fruit Trees?
Not independently verified. The layout source discusses Sprinklers watering an edge area while recommending trees there, but it does not define a universal tree/Sprinkler interaction. Do not build a permanent orchard around that assumption without testing.
Why won't my Fruit Tree grow?
First check the tree's valid area: Mango, Cacao and Banana require the Greenhouse. Then clear nearby obstacles; the sapling description explicitly warns that surrounding obstacles can stop growth. Check the source fruiting season when waiting for fruit, but do not treat the unknown spacing geometry as a guessed 3×3 or 5×5 rule.
Can I move a Fruit Tree after planting?
The current source set does not verify mature-tree relocation or outdoor-to-Greenhouse transplantation. Do not promise a move command or plan around recovering a planted sapling.
Can I cut down a Fruit Tree?
No removal tool, sapling recovery rule or permanent-removal behavior is independently confirmed. Do not recommend an Axe just because ordinary trees use an Axe.
Do Fruit Trees die when the season changes?
The sources confirm year-round planting and named fruiting seasons, but do not isolate whether a mature tree dies, goes dormant, remains planted or retains maturity at a season change. The page deliberately leaves that behavior open.
