Midnight & Yokai Item Guide
Tainted Crops & Fish Guide
Tainted Crops come from the Mud Seed harvest path. Tainted Fish are Midnight catches at specific fishing spots. Both are separate supernatural item records used in the Okami Pool and Nushi offering system.
In current site terminology, these are Tainted Items or 祟られたもの. They are not the separate Cursed Objects category, or 呪物.
Short answer
Use Mud Seeds for crop attempts, fish during the Midnight session for direct fish attempts, then reserve successful Tainted Items for Okami Pool progression. The complete item tables below are derived from the active crop and fish records.

Tainted Crops
Mud Seed harvest
Plant a Mud Seed in a compatible Field or Raised field context. The applicable current season determines the normal field-crop pool, and a harvest may produce the Tainted variant where the current data allows it.

祟られたもの · Tainted Items
Crops and fish for Okami Pool
Tainted Crops and Tainted Fish are offering inputs for the Nushi system. Their normal counterparts remain ordinary crop and fish records, with separate stable IDs for the tainted variants.
呪物 · Cursed Objects
A separate supernatural item taxonomy
Cursed Objects include Shrine resources, Wood Plaques, anomaly-chain objects and other supernatural items. They are not silently merged with the crop or fish offering categories.

The current canonical crop list includes the unusual mappings cursed-turnip → daikon and cursed-daikon → white-radish. The Cabbage relationship is retained as stable ID cabbage because it is present in the canonical shop seed records even though the compact crop table does not currently duplicate that row.

No Flowers
Mud Seed is bounded to Field and Raised field crop outcomes. The current record explicitly excludes Flowers.
No Paddy crops
Rice-field crops are not part of the Mud Seed outcome pool. Do not use Mud Seed to target Rice or other Paddy crops.
Greenhouse rule
Greenhouse compatibility does not create an all-season Tainted pool. Mud Seed still uses the current outdoor season pool.
Greenhouse farming →The exact Tainted harvest chance is intentionally unresolved. A normal crop result is valid, and later-year crop access does not automatically add new Tainted variants to this list.

Leave roughly two empty tiles in each direction as practical spacing guidance. The repository does not prove an exact hard radius, giant probability, tool tier or harvest quantity. Nearby objects can interfere with growth; full placement and harvest mechanics belong to Mud Seeds & Cursed Crops.

Tsuji / Crossroads
Tainted Oikawa uses the Crossroads Fishing Spot record.
Village to Waterfall
Tainted Funa is in Village, and Tainted Sawagani is at Waterfall.
Mountain to Quarry
Tainted Amago, Tainted Ayu and Tainted Frog use Mountain, Deep Mountain and Quarry respectively.
All six records are currently year-round and Midnight-only. No rain, thunderstorm, snow, bait, rod tier or catch percentage is claimed. Tainted Ayu is specifically at the Deep Mountain Fishing Spot.
Okami Pool
Reserve Tainted Items for Nushi progression
This page owns eligibility, while the Nushi guide owns counts and rewards.
Eligible classes
Tainted Crops + Tainted Fish
The active offering graph accepts both tainted item families. Their item records stay separate from Nushi Fish and Cursed Objects.
Exact quantity
Not duplicated here
Required counts, mix rules and consumption behavior remain null or unresolved in shared Nushi data.
Reward chain
Scale, then more Nushi rewards
Nushi's Scale increases maximum HP. The Rain Whistle milestone and Carp Lantern rewards belong to the specialist guides.
Selling and completion
A sell price is not a safe-disposal rule
Tainted Items are useful progression inputs before they are sale goods.
Selling, processing and food
The item-derived prices are ¥4 for every current Tainted Crop and ¥99 for every current Tainted Fish. Keep enough for Nushi before selling extras. Reacquisition, cooking, food effects and machine processing are not fully established, so normal counterpart recipes must not be assumed to accept Tainted Items.
Shipping, Contests and branding
The repository does not prove that Tainted Items count toward normal crop or fish shipment totals, unlock seeds, enter normal Contests or inherit branded status. Those fields remain unknown rather than being copied from normal items.
Catalog
Tainted Crop and Tainted Fish are separate category identities. Per-item Catalog tracking and giant-state tracking remain unknown.
Catalog authority →Completion Roadmap
Use this page as the item authority if your Catalog checklist exposes these categories. Do not invent a separate percentage.
Completion Roadmap →Mode and progression boundaries
Do not copy Shade-mode Midnight rules into Sunshine
The current source map is cautious by design.
Village in the Shade
Mud Seeds, Midnight fishing and Okami Pool offerings are the active records used by this page.
Village in the Sunshine
Mud Seed availability, Tainted Crop availability, Tainted Fish availability and Nushi source behavior are not fully resolved in the repository. No shop replacement is invented.
Sunshine mode guide →Postgame
The current data does not prove a postgame closure or a permanent missable boundary for these sources. Keep postgame claims on the Postgame guide.
Postgame guide →Current dataset note: this guide uses the active Ver.1.09-oriented records. It does not add future Sep 29 content or speculative new Tainted variants.

Common Tainted Item problems
FAQ
Tainted Crops & Fish questions
What are Tainted Crops?
Tainted Crops are separate crop records that can appear from harvesting crops grown from Mud Seeds. They are not normal crop quality states.
What are Tainted Fish?
Tainted Fish are separate fish records caught during Midnight fishing at the listed fishing spots. Their conditions do not inherit from the normal fish record.
Are Tainted Items the same as Cursed Objects?
No. Tainted Items are the 祟られたもの crop and fish family used for Okami Pool offerings. Cursed Objects are the separate 呪物 category.
Does every Mud Seed become a Tainted Crop?
No. The current data records a tainted harvest chance without an exact percentage, so a normal crop result is expected and no probability is invented here.
Can Mud Seeds grow flowers or Paddy crops?
The current Mud Seed boundary excludes Flowers and Paddy crops. It uses the applicable current-season Field or Raised field crop pool.
How many Tainted Crops and Tainted Fish are there?
The active repository records 18 Tainted Crops and 6 Tainted Fish.
Which Tainted Crops can become giant?
The current giant-candidate records are Tainted Turnip in Spring, Tainted Corn in Summer, Tainted Taro in Autumn and Tainted Napa Cabbage in Winter.
Where do I catch Tainted Ayu?
The current record places Tainted Ayu at the Deep Mountain Fishing Spot during Midnight and in all four seasons.
How many Tainted Items does Nushi require?
The exact offering quantities and any mixing rule remain owned by the Okami Pool and Nushi guide. This page does not invent a count.
Are Tainted Items available in Village in the Sunshine?
The current repository does not establish a complete Sunshine-mode source map for Mud Seeds, Tainted Crops or Tainted Fish, so Shade-mode Midnight access must not be copied into that mode.
