Gathering Guide

Tree Types, Wood and Sap Guide

Six resource trees supply the core Wood materials, natural drops and Sap Collector outputs used throughout village progression. Use this guide for resource trees, not Fruit Trees or decorative landscaping.

The short version

Pick the tree for the material you need.

Chestnut, Oak and Pine produce Wood. Cedar produces Easy Wood, Cypress produces Hard Wood and Bamboo produces Bamboo.

Quick Answer

Which tree should you use?

The material and sap mappings are factual relationships, not a subjective ranking.

Need Wood

Chestnut, Oak or Pine

Need Easy Wood

Cedar

Need Hard Wood

Cypress

Need Bamboo

Bamboo

Need Sweet Sap

Chestnut

Need Sour Sap

Oak

Need Pine Resin

Pine

Need Bamboo Sap

Bamboo

Keep several Cypress trees in your long-term resource plan because Hard Wood has a narrower source relationship. Pine is also worth maintaining when Oil Press fuel is part of your processing route.

Resource Trees are Chestnut, Oak, Pine, Cedar, Cypress and Bamboo. Fruit Trees such as Apple, Pear and Mango belong to the separate Fruit Trees guide and do not automatically produce these Wood or Sap Collector outputs.

Sap Collector

Attach only to a mature compatible tree

The Sap Collector follows the tree identity, not a generic tree category.

The safe workflow

  1. 1. Grow or find a compatible resource tree. Seedlings, stumps and logs are not confirmed targets.
  2. 2. Wait until the tree is mature. The mature-state requirement is shared by the Sap Collector authority.
  3. 3. Install the collector. Return after 3 days for the tree-specific sap.
  4. 4. Plan the output. Quantities per cycle, accumulation and removal behavior remain unverified.

Drops and Replanting

Do not turn every drop into a planting guarantee

Natural tree drops are useful resources, but the current data does not prove a universal seed loop.

Confirmed relations

Pine has Pine Cone, Oak has Acorn and Oak Leaf, and Chestnut has Chestnut. Cedar and Cypress have source-language seed or fruit records.

Bamboo boundary

Bamboo Shoot is a Spring forage record. It is not published here as a direct mature-Bamboo drop or guaranteed planting item.

Open mechanics

Growth days, watering, obstacle clearance, wild respawn, seed probability, removal and relocation are not independently verified. Do not borrow Fruit Tree assumptions.

Downstream Uses

Where the materials go

Use the authority page for each recipe instead of duplicating every material list here.

Sweet Sap

Beehive

Shared data records this downstream relationship. The item itself is more valuable for progression than its ¥15 sap sell value in many routes.

Oak Leaf Note

One item still has a season conflict

The safest guide is explicit about the evidence gap.

Oak Leaf: the current structured forage table records it as year-round, while a completion guide records Summer. Until those sources are reconciled against a current game-derived record, treat the season as unresolved. Its Green Dye and Composter uses remain separate from the season question.

FAQ

Tree Types and Sap Questions

Short answers for wood, sap, drops and lifecycle boundaries.

Which tree gives Hard Wood?

Cypress is the dedicated resource-tree source for Hard Wood.

Which tree gives Easy Wood?

Cedar is the dedicated resource-tree source for Easy Wood.

Which tree gives Sweet Sap?

A mature Chestnut Tree fitted with a Sap Collector gives Sweet Sap every 3 days.

Which tree gives Pine Resin?

A mature Pine Tree fitted with a Sap Collector gives Pine Resin every 3 days.

Does Oak Leaf appear in Summer only?

That is unresolved. The current structured forage table says year-round, while a completion guide says Summer. This page does not choose silently between them.

Can I plant every tree from its drop?

Not confirmed. Chopping and replanting are useful strategies, but the current data does not prove a guaranteed seed drop or that every tree drop is plantable.

How fast do resource trees grow or respawn?

No shared growth duration or wild-tree respawn rule is independently verified. Do not borrow the 12-day Fruit Tree rule.

Can I use Fruit Trees with the Sap Collector?

No automatic relationship exists. Resource Trees and Fruit Trees are separate systems, and the six confirmed Sap Collector mappings are listed here.
