Farming Processing Guide
Village in the Shade Composter Guide
Turn the right organic inputs into three fertilizer tiers, then use those tiers to improve your odds of higher-quality crops. This page owns Composter unlocks, exact recipes, timing boundaries and upgrade costs.
The short version
Organic input in. Fertilizer out.
Base Composter batches take 1 or 2 days depending on the input and output record. The current source set does not support a tier-wide fixed timer.

Unlock
How to Unlock the Composter
The Shrine skill unlocks the recipe; the Workbench builds the machine.
- 1. Reach Repair Stage 1.The Composter is a Shrine skill gate, not a fixed calendar-day unlock.
- 2. Learn the Composter skill.Pay Twin Magatama ×1, Child Magatama ×2 and Bronze Mirror ×1. No Standard, Rain or Sword cost is listed.
- 3. Craft it at the Workbench.Use the exact three-material construction recipe shown at right.
Workbench recipe
Composter
- Moss×10
- Aquatic Plant×2
- Wood×10
These are construction materials. No separate per-batch fuel is documented.
Fertilizer Tiers
Three outputs, three input families
Use exact inputs. A higher tier improves the documented quality direction, but no tier guarantees a named crop rank.
Fertilizer
Fertilizer
Improves the chance of a higher-quality crop.
76 documented inputs
Good Fertilizer
Good Fertilizer
Makes higher-quality crop growth more likely.
35 documented inputs
Premium Fertilizer
Premium Fertilizer
The strongest documented fertilizer tier. An exact percentage or guaranteed crop rank is not verified.
8 documented inputs
Exact Input Lists
Standard Fertilizer inputs
The standard route accepts the documented organic whitelist. Search the cards on this page by browser find, or use the grouped list below.
Good Fertilizer
Bamboo Sap plus the explicit aquatic whitelist
Good Fertilizer is not a generic any-fish recipe.
The documented list contains Bamboo Sap and the named fish, white fish, fish-like and aquatic records below. Crabs, crayfish, prawns, turtles and frogs are eligible here even though they are not ordinary fish records in the Fishing Guide.
Aquatic boundary
Six non-fish aquatic records
These are explicitly called out so they are not lost in a fish-only reading.
All six Cursed Fish IDs are excluded from the current Good Fertilizer data: fish-036, fish-037, fish-038, fish-039, fish-040, fish-041.
Open Fishing GuidePremium Fertilizer
Reserve these eight hunting materials
The Premium route is an exact eight-input list, not a general hunting-material sink.
Several inputs also appear in the Bird Bath delivery groups. Keep a reserve before composting Small Animal Bone, Large Animal Bone, Boar Tusk, Deer Antler or Bear Fur. Bear Gall is not part of the current Bird Bath overlap list.
Timing and Use
Plan around the batch, not an invented timer
Current machine text says processing takes 1 or 2 days depending on the input and output.
1 or 2 days
The source establishes two possible timings, but the current canonical table does not yet publish a complete input-by-input distribution.
One input per recipe
Each fertilizer recipe is documented with input quantity ×1. Output quantity and quality inheritance remain unverified fields.
Apply for quality
Use fertilizer for higher-quality crop chances. Do not promise a Copper, Silver, Gold or S-rank result from a single application.
Crop Quality GuideUpgrade
What does the Upgraded Composter change?
It increases loading capacity while keeping the same three fertilizer products.
Verified benefit
Up to 3 materials at once
This is a capacity statement, not a verified three-times-faster cycle. The exact mixed-input behavior is not established.
Upgrade skill
Upgraded Composter
Repair Stage 3. Cost: Standard Magatama ×2, Twin Magatama ×2, Child Magatama ×2 and Bronze Mirror ×1. No Rain Magatama or Sword is listed.

Upgraded Composter

- Clay×10
- Oak Leaf×10
- Bamboo Sap×10

Troubleshooting
Common Composter mistakes
Check ownership boundaries before changing an input.
Recipe rejected
Confirm the exact tier whitelist. Good Fertilizer is not “any Fish,” and Premium Fertilizer is not “any hunting drop.”
Cursed Fish confusion
Cursed Fish remain separate fishing records and are not included in the current Good Fertilizer whitelist.
Delivery reserve missing
Check Bird Bath delivery needs before using overlapping hunting materials in Premium Fertilizer.
FAQ
Composter Questions
Short answers for unlocks, inputs, quality and upgrade behavior.
How do I unlock the Composter?
Learn the Composter Shrine skill at Repair Stage 1. It costs Twin Magatama ×1, Child Magatama ×2 and Bronze Mirror ×1.
What is the Composter recipe?
Use a Workbench with Moss ×10, Aquatic Plant ×2 and Wood ×10.
Can any fish make Good Fertilizer?
No. Use the explicit Good Fertilizer whitelist. Cursed Fish are not included in the current canonical recipe data.
What does fertilizer do?
Fertilizer improves the chance of higher-quality crops. It does not establish a guaranteed Copper, Silver, Gold or S-rank harvest.
What does the Upgraded Composter change?
It uses the listed upgraded recipe and accepts up to 3 materials at once. That is a capacity change, not a verified three-times-faster timer.
