Village in the Shade Smoker Guide
The Smoker turns Game Meat, Pork, Fish, Cheese and Eggs into five verified smoked-food outputs. All five core outputs are listed at 1 day, with input boundaries kept explicit where species or quality behavior differs.
The short version
Five input families. Five outputs.
The Smoker is a Workbench recipe unlocked through its Shrine skill. Its input categories are broader than a single animal or fish species, so the exact eligibility boundary matters.

Game Meat
Confirmed examples use stable IDs small-game-meat and large-game-meat. Do not replace this category with Pork.
Fish
The source names a normal-fish whitelist for Smoked Fish. The current repo maps only stable English records; non-fish catches, Nushi Fish and Cursed Fish are not included.
Catch fish on the Fishing Guide →Cheese and Egg
Cheese uses stable ID cheese. Egg inputs include egg, duck-egg and turkey-egg; quality variants remain unverified.
The current audit explicitly keeps Sawagani, Japanese Crayfish and Japanese Mitten Crab outside the verified Fish input family. Frog, Nushi Fish and Cursed Fish also remain unverified for smoking.

How to Make Each Smoked Product
The page keeps the five chains separate so Game Meat, Pork, Fish, Cheese and Egg are not conflated.

Small Game Meat or Large Game Meat → Smoker → 1 day → Sausage.
Sausage is used by the documented Sausage Grill and White Stew recipes.
Check recipe uses →Pork → Bacon
Pork → Smoker → 1 day → Bacon.
Bacon sells for ¥231 and restores ×165 stamina; its recipe uses Scrambled Eggs and Caesar Salad.

Do not assume every catch, Nushi Fish or Cursed Fish is eligible.
Find fish sources →Cheese → Smoked Cheese
Cheese → Smoker → 1 day → Smoked Cheese.
Smoked Cheese sells for ¥231 and restores ×165 stamina.
Egg → Smoked Egg
Egg, Duck Egg or Turkey Egg → Smoker → 1 day → Smoked Egg.

Troubleshooting
Why Can't I Use the Smoker?
Check the real gate before changing inputs or assuming fuel is missing.
Can't craft it
Confirm Repair Stage 3, the Smoker Shrine skill, the Workbench and all four materials: Wood ×10, Stone ×10, Weeds ×50 and Iron Ingot ×2.
Can't use this input
Check the category: Game Meat, Pork, Fish, Cheese or Egg. Species-level and special-variant acceptance is not universal by default.
Fish is rejected
Do not treat crabs, crayfish, frogs, Nushi Fish or Cursed Fish as normal Fish without a direct processing record.
Food is not ready
All five core outputs are listed at 1 day. The upgraded source also lists a 1-day cycle.
Bacon will not start
Use the canonical Pork input. Game Meat is the Sausage category and is not a substitute for Pork.
No fuel prompt
No separate Wood, Coal or Charcoal operating fuel is currently documented. Construction materials and cycle fuel are separate concepts.

Can every fish be smoked?
No. The source names a normal-fish whitelist. Non-fish catches and special variants remain outside the verified set.

Unlock the Upgraded Smoker at Repair Stage 4. Its recipe is Smoker ×1, Iron Ingot ×5, Heavy Stone ×5 and Fragrant Sap ×10; the source lists three slots and a 1-day cycle.
Can I build multiple Smokers?
The current source set does not verify a maximum count or placement limit, so the guide does not promise unlimited placement.
