Sprinklers Guide
Village in the Shade Sprinklers Guide
Sprinklers are Shrine machine recipes that automate field watering. The game currently documents three types with increasing radius, but it does not document every placement or indoor-field interaction.
Sprinklers — Short Answer
Unlock
Shrine machine recipes
Types
3 documented
Coverage
8 / 24 / 48 tiles
Automatic?
Yes, in listed radius
Small, Normal and Enhanced Sprinklers are listed at Shrine Repair Stages 1, 4 and 5. The coverage values are surrounding tiles; the Sprinkler's own tile is not counted.
English system terminology may be updated after the official Western localization can be verified on October 27, 2026.
Unlock and Build
How to Unlock Sprinklers
All three documented Sprinkler types are Shrine machine recipes. Unlocking the Shrine node and obtaining the machine are separate steps.
Repair Stage 1
Small Sprinkler
Japanese: 小さいスプリンクラー. Automatically waters fields within 1 tile around it.
Shrine resource cost
- Standard Magatama × 1
- Child Magatama × 4
Repair Stage 4
Normal Sprinkler
Japanese: 普通のスプリンクラー. Automatically waters fields within 2 tiles.
Shrine resource cost
- Twin Magatama × 3
- Child Magatama × 3
- Bronze Mirror × 1
Repair Stage 5
Enhanced Sprinkler
Japanese: 強化スプリンクラー. Automatically waters fields within 3 tiles.
Shrine resource cost
- Twin Magatama × 3
- Child Magatama × 4
- Bronze Mirror × 1
- Sword × 2
The records provide Shrine resource costs for each recipe. They do not list a separate shop price, building commission, money cost or ordinary workstation requirement.
Watering Coverage
How Sprinkler Watering Works
The current Shrine records describe radius-based automatic watering. The diagrams show the documented surrounding-tile count without borrowing a layout from another farming game.
Small Sprinkler
8 surrounding tiles
S = Sprinkler position · W = documented watered tile
Normal Sprinkler
24 surrounding tiles
S = Sprinkler position · W = documented watered tile
Enhanced Sprinkler
48 surrounding tiles
S = Sprinkler position · W = documented watered tile
The records confirm radius and derived surrounding-tile counts. They do not establish whether coverage can overlap, whether a Sprinkler occupies a crop tile, or whether there is a placement cap.
What Is Not Documented
Do Not Overread Sprinkler Automation
Sprinklers solve the watering workload described by their Shrine effects. They are not documented as a universal farming bonus.
Greenhouse and paddy fields
Current research does not confirm compatibility with the Greenhouse or rice-paddy fields. Keep those answers open rather than treating normal-field coverage as universal. For Greenhouse progression, see the Greenhouse unlock guide.
Quality, growth and yield
No Sprinkler bonus to crop quality, growth speed or yield is recorded. Use the Crop Quality guide for quality progression and the complete farming systems guide for the wider crop loop.
Timing and maintenance
The exact activation timing is not currently documented. The records also do not specify fuel, electricity, refill, manual activation, durability or maintenance.
Not a core handheld tool
Sprinklers remain Shrine machine recipes, not one of the site's eight primary handheld tool families. Compare manual watering in the Tools database or Tool Upgrade guide.
Placement and Troubleshooting
Why Isn't My Sprinkler Working?
Check the documented parts first, then treat unsupported placement behavior as an open question rather than a hidden rule.
There is not enough verified information for a “best layout,” ROI calculator, overlap optimizer or maximum-count recommendation. Keep layouts practical and revisit them when placement rules are directly documented.
FAQ
Sprinkler questions
How do I unlock Sprinklers?
Sprinklers are Shrine machine recipes. Small Sprinkler is listed at Repair Stage 1, Normal Sprinkler at Repair Stage 4 and Enhanced Sprinkler at Repair Stage 5.
How many tiles does a Sprinkler water?
The current records document 8 surrounding tiles for Small Sprinkler, 24 for Normal Sprinkler and 48 for Enhanced Sprinkler. These are the tiles within the listed radius, excluding the Sprinkler's own tile.
Do Sprinklers water automatically?
Yes. The Shrine records describe all three Sprinkler types as automatically watering fields within their documented radius.
Do Sprinklers need fuel or refilling?
The current Sprinkler records do not document fuel, electricity, refill, activation, durability or maintenance requirements.
Do Sprinklers work in the Greenhouse?
Current research does not confirm Greenhouse compatibility, so this guide does not promise that indoor placement works.
Do Sprinklers work with paddy fields?
Current research does not confirm Sprinkler behavior on paddy fields. Do not assume ordinary field coverage applies to rice-paddy tiles.
Do Sprinklers improve crop quality or growth speed?
No such bonus is documented in the Sprinkler records. Sprinklers are an irrigation-automation system, not a confirmed quality, growth-speed or yield upgrade.
