Midnight Event Guide
Village in the Shade Mud Ghost Guide
When the Mud Ghost (泥のお化け) appears during Midnight, follow it until it stops. At that location, you have two different reward paths: dig with the Hoe (クワ) to obtain Mud Seed (泥の種) ×3, or leave the buried seeds alone, water them, wait 2 days, and return during Midnight for Ghost Flower Vase (幽霊花の花瓶).
If you want the Ghost Flower Vase, do not dig up the Mud Seeds. Digging is the Mud Seed route.
English anomaly and item names currently follow the site's Japanese-release terminology and may be updated after the official English localization can be verified on October 27, 2026.

Decide Before You Dig
At the Mud Ghost's stopping point, choose the result you want before using the Hoe. The two documented routes should not be collapsed into one linear reward chain.
Mud Seed Route
Dig with the Hoe
Dig → Mud Seed ×3
Use the Hoe at the buried stopping location. Mud Seed's planting, seasonal crop outcomes and Cursed Crop mechanics belong to the Cursed Crops guide.
Ghost Flower Vase Route
Leave the seeds buried
Do not dig → water → wait 2 days → Midnight collection
Water the buried event spot, wait 2 days, then return during Midnight to collect 幽霊花の花瓶. The source describes it as Night Furniture; the exact watering frequency, time-of-day rules and Vase quantity are not documented. See the Night Furniture guide for broader collection context.
Event flow
How the Mud Ghost event works
01
Wait for the falling mud
During Midnight exploration, mud may suddenly fall. This signals that the Mud Ghost event may be active; it is not documented as an every-Midnight spawn.
02
Follow the Mud Ghost
Find 泥のお化け and follow it as it moves in a direction. This is a follow event, not a combat encounter.
03
Find the stopping point
When the Mud Ghost stops, check the buried Mud Seed interaction at that location. The source does not clarify whether this is one patch or three separate spots.
04
Choose the seed branch
Use the Hoe (クワ) to dig and receive Mud Seed ×3. Do not add sell-price or normal inventory claims here.
05
Choose the Vase branch
Leave the seeds buried and water the spot. Current source says the buried seeds grow into Ghost Flower Vase after 2 days.
06
Collect at Midnight
Return during Midnight to collect 幽霊花の花瓶. Daytime visibility, persistence and missed-collection behavior remain unknown.
How to Get Mud Seed ×3
Follow the Mud Ghost, then use the Hoe at its stopping location.
The current anomaly record uses stable item reference `mud-seed` and quantity 3. This page owns the event acquisition; the Cursed Crops guide owns what happens after planting.
The source does not document a sell price for Mud Seed here, and no Hoe upgrade tier is asserted.
How to Get the Ghost Flower Vase
Do not dig the buried Mud Seeds.
- Leave the seeds buried at the Mud Ghost's stopping point.
- Water the buried event spot.
- Wait 2 days.
- Return during Midnight and collect 幽霊花の花瓶.
Why Can't I Collect Ghost Flower Vase?
The Vase must be collected during Midnight.
If 2 days have passed but the item is not collectible, check that you left the buried seeds in place, completed the required watering and returned during Midnight. The source does not establish whether the Vase is visible or collectible during daytime.
What Are Mud Seeds For?
They feed the Cursed Crop system.
Use the Cursed Crops guide for planting, seasonal outcomes, giant candidates and the relationship to Okami-buchi. This page does not duplicate that database.
Mud Ghost Troubleshooting
Mud fell, but I do not know what to do
Look for the Mud Ghost and follow it until it stops.
I followed it, but nothing happened
Check the location where it stopped for the buried Mud Seed interaction.
I wanted the Vase but got Mud Seeds
You dug up the seeds. The Vase route requires leaving them buried.
It has been 2 days and nothing happened
Check the watering requirement, the correct event spot and Midnight collection timing. Do not assume an exact watering schedule.
I want both rewards
The documented routes are separate. Partial digging, branch recovery and repeatability are not verified.
Does it require rain?
No weather gate is established. Mud alone is not evidence of a Rain requirement.
