Midnight Anomaly Guide

Village in the Shade Lantern Ghost & Tenome Guide

To clear Lantern Ghost (提灯お化け), use your Pickaxe to destroy 5 purple glowing lanterns around the village while avoiding the ghost's line of sight. If you are spotted, Tenome (手の目) appears and chases you; leaving the village and re-entering resets that chase state. Then break the additional lantern in the central Village Plaza.

English anomaly and item names currently follow the site's Japanese-release terminology and may be updated after the official English localization can be verified on October 27, 2026.

Encounter flow

How the Lantern Ghost encounter works

01

Find 5 lanterns

Search the village for five purple glowing lanterns.

02

Break them

Use the Pickaxe. No fixed hit count is claimed.

03

Avoid sight

Stay outside Lantern Ghost's field of view while moving between targets.

04

Reset if spotted

If Tenome appears, leave the village and re-enter.

05

Finish the plaza

After 5/5, go to the central Village Plaza and break the additional lantern.

0/5 → 5/5 → Village Plaza → Final Lantern → Complete

Current research confirms the count and broad search route, but not a complete coordinate list or fixed/random spawn pattern for the five village lanterns. Search for the purple glow rather than following invented map coordinates.

How to avoid the Lantern Ghost

Watch the Lantern Ghost's facing direction and stay out of its line of sight while searching. Move between lanterns when the route is clear. No cone angle, detection radius or alert meter is established.

If the ghost sees you, this is not automatically a permanent failure. The chase state changes, but the recovery route is to leave the village map and re-enter during the same Midnight session.

Why does Tenome appear?

Within the Lantern Ghost encounter, Tenome (手の目) is the fast pursuit state triggered by detection. Tenome makes lantern hunting harder; it is not presented here as a separate always-random main anomaly.

Progress warning: Broken-lantern persistence after leaving and re-entering is unresolved. Do not assume the reset is lossless until the game confirms the five-lantern count.

Lantern Ghost rewards

Night Furniture · Catalog No.2306

目玉提灯 / Eyeball Lantern

This is a possible Night Furniture reward relationship, not a guarantee that both items arrive from every completion.

Night Furniture · Catalog No.2307

石碑 / Stone Monument

This is a possible Night Furniture reward relationship, not a guarantee that both items arrive from every completion.

The broader Tenome relationship also lists 壁掛け菅笠 and 黒い壁掛け菅笠, but this page does not automatically assign those items to this exact Lantern Ghost completion. See the Night Furniture guide for the wider relationship map and the Hand-Eye Wooden Plaque (手の目の木札).

Natural spawn and Hand-Eye plaque

Natural Midnight anomaly

The canonical anomaly record lists Lantern Ghost as a random Midnight anomaly from Spring onward. Do not treat the Hand-Eye Wooden Plaque as a required item for every appearance.

Plaque relationship

The Hand-Eye Wooden Plaque is tied to the Hand-Eye/Tenome Night Furniture relationship. Current data does not prove that placing it directly summons this exact Lantern Ghost route or overrides a season gate.

Troubleshooting

You are not in Midnight exploration yet.
The Pickaxe is not equipped.
You are counting the final plaza lantern as part of the first five.
Lantern Ghost saw you and Tenome began the chase.
You left and re-entered without verified progress persistence.
You are expecting a fixed coordinate list or guaranteed reward.
You are trying to fight Tenome instead of completing the lantern objective.

Lantern Ghost questions

When does Lantern Ghost appear?

Lantern Ghost is a Midnight anomaly. The current anomaly record lists it from Spring onward; exact Tenome/plaque season override behavior is not asserted.

How many purple lanterns do I break?

Break five purple glowing lanterns around the village first, then break one additional lantern in the central Village Plaza.

What tool breaks the lanterns?

Use the Pickaxe. This guide does not duplicate Pickaxe stats or claim a fixed hit count.

Why does Tenome appear?

Within this encounter, Tenome is the chase state triggered when Lantern Ghost spots you. Lantern Ghost disappears temporarily and Tenome pursues you.

How do I get rid of Tenome?

Leave the village map and re-enter the village during the same Midnight session. This resets the chase state; whether broken-lantern progress persists is not verified.

Do I need to fight Tenome?

No direct Tenome HP, drops or combat solution is established here. The encounter is solved by breaking the lanterns.

What rewards can Lantern Ghost give?

The strongly tied Night Furniture examples are 目玉提灯 / Eyeball Lantern and 石碑 / Stone Monument. Treat them as a possible reward pool, not a guaranteed pair.

Is the Hand-Eye Wooden Plaque required?

No requirement is established. The plaque is tied to the Hand-Eye/Tenome Night Furniture relationship, while Lantern Ghost also has a natural Midnight anomaly record.
