Midnight Anomaly Guide
Village in the Shade Karakasa Obake Guide
Do not try to defeat Karakasa Obake (唐傘お化け) with direct attacks. On rainy Midnights, bait its high-speed charge into a wall, pick it up while stunned, carry it to the Jizo on the east side of the village, and place it on the Jizo's head. Repeat this for all 4 Karakasa Obake to complete the encounter.
English anomaly and item names currently follow the site's Japanese-release terminology and may be updated after the official English localization can be verified on October 27, 2026.

Encounter flow
How to clear Karakasa Obake
01
Find a rainy Midnight
Karakasa Obake is tied to Rain at Midnight. Do not replace the weather gate with a season-only rule.
02
Move toward the Jizo
The Jizo is on the east side of the village. Staying nearby can reduce the carry distance, but this is practical positioning.
03
Bait the charge
Stand near a wall, let Karakasa track you, then move aside so its fast charge ends in a wall collision.
04
Pick up the stunned ghost
After impact, Karakasa becomes temporarily unable to act. Approach and pick it up; no exact stun duration or control input is claimed.
05
Place it on the Jizo
Carry the stunned Karakasa to the Jizo and place it on the Jizo's head.
06
Repeat four times
Handle all 4 Karakasa Obake. Four placements complete the encounter.
One or Two at a Time?
Safer
1 at a time
Faster
2 at a time
Riskier
3 or more
This is practical guidance, not a required grouping rule. Handling two can speed up the encounter if you are comfortable with the charge pattern; three or more creates much higher injury risk.
If the charge misses
Reposition near a wall and bait another charge. Current research does not establish a numeric penalty, exact wall type, dodge input, or special recovery rule for a missed collision.
Do not invent an exact stun duration or assume that every decorative object produces the same collision result.

Karakasa Obake questions
When does Karakasa Obake appear?
Karakasa Obake is a rainy-day Midnight anomaly. Rain is the important gate; no additional season restriction is asserted here.
How do I beat Karakasa Obake?
Bait its fast charge into a wall, approach while it is stunned, pick it up, carry it to the Jizo on the east side of the village and place it on the Jizo's head. Repeat for all four.
Do I attack Karakasa Obake directly?
No. The documented solution is positioning and environmental control, not Pickaxe, Sickle or Bow damage.
How do I stun Karakasa Obake?
Stand near a wall, bait the charge and move aside so Karakasa crashes into the wall. The impact temporarily leaves it unable to act.
Where is the Jizo?
The canonical anomaly record places the Jizo on the eastern side of the village. Use the in-game Jizo landmark; no more precise coordinate is asserted.
How many Karakasa Obake do I handle?
Four. Place all four stunned Karakasa on the Jizo's head to complete the encounter.
Can I handle two at a time?
One at a time is safer. Handling two can be faster if you are comfortable with the charge pattern; three or more is much riskier.
What rewards are associated with Karakasa Obake?
Current reward research associates 壁掛け菅笠 / Wall-Mounted Sedge Hat and 黒い壁掛け菅笠 / Black Wall-Mounted Sedge Hat with this Night Furniture relationship. Do not assume both are guaranteed together.
Does Karakasa have a Wooden Plaque?
No. Karakasa Obake is not one of the five currently documented Ghost Shelf wooden-plaque targets.
