Movement Shortcuts
Fast Travel & Movement Guide
Village in the Shade improves movement through several separate systems rather than one universal fast-travel menu: the Dog Whistle returns you home, Nue Hide enables faster running, Quarry Minecarts skip unlocked depths, and a postgame back road connects the garden to Quarry.

Fast return home
Dog Whistle: the early return-home shortcut
The Whistles guide remains the authority for the broader whistle system; this section owns only its movement behavior.
What it does
Komako teaches the Dog Whistle during story progression. It calls the dog and can provide a shortcut back to the home garden. An earliest observed Spring 6 position is useful for orientation, but it is not a fixed calendar guarantee.
Open the Whistles guide →Why it may not work
- Midnight exploration disables Dog Whistle travel.
- Some maps restrict the whistle; the full blocked-map matrix is not established.
- Before the Komako story unlock, the whistle is not available.
- Any separate dog-presence requirement or cooldown is unresolved.
Late-story movement
Nue Hide unlocks faster running
Treat this as a movement-speed upgrade, not teleportation.
The exact internal item or ability activation state is unresolved, and platform-specific dash buttons should not be hardcoded. Use the run/dash input shown by your platform after the story unlock. The Story Walkthrough owns the Nue sequence.
Quarry-only travel
Minecart checkpoints: every 10 floors
Minecart movement is an internal Quarry shortcut, not village-wide fast travel.
Rule
10-floor intervals
Nearest B120 shortcut
B110F
Direct B120 warp
Not confirmed
Reach deeper Quarry checkpoints to unlock the corresponding Minecart destinations for future runs. Current canonical data does not assign a money cost, stamina cost or exact clock-time cost to using the Minecart.
The confirmed route to the Hot Spring boss is B110F → final descent → B120F. Reaching B120F is the boss condition, not proof of a B120F Minecart destination. See the Mining guide and Hot Spring guide.
Confirmed checkpoint floors
B110F is the last confirmed shortcut before B120F. Do not add 120F by arithmetic alone.
Postgame shortcut
Open the Garden–Quarry Back Road through Kisuke
This is the main permanent postgame route for repeated mining trips.
Requirement
Main story clear
NPC
Kisuke
Price
¥50,000
Build time
3 days
The canonical construction record lists no material entries. The road connects the home garden and Quarry directly; it is not a whistle destination and it does not create a general village warp network.
Best postgame mining route
Open the road once, then combine it with the deepest Minecart checkpoint you have actually unlocked.
Review postgame unlocks →Midnight boundary
Dog Whistle is unavailable during Midnight
Plan around the clock instead of inventing a second Midnight teleport.
Manual return
Because Dog Whistle travel is unavailable during Midnight, walk back normally when you want to leave early.
Automatic boundary
At 6:00 AM, Midnight exploration ends and the player is automatically returned home. This event is not player-triggered fast travel.
05:00 context
Many active anomalies disappear around 5:00 AM, but that is not the formal end of Midnight. Use Night Anomalies for encounter details.
Story routes
Secret passages are not automatically permanent shortcuts
The story includes hidden and underground navigation routes, but their post-story persistence is not established as a general fast-travel system.
The hidden rear route near Rin's residence and the underground passage toward the Hole are recorded as story-only passages. They remain separate from the Dog Whistle, Minecart and Garden–Quarry Back Road records. For exact Rule progression, use the Walkthrough.
FAQ
Fast travel questions
Is there one universal fast-travel menu?
The main movement shortcuts are progression-based: Dog Whistle return-home travel, Nue Hide faster running, Quarry Minecart checkpoints and the postgame Garden–Quarry Back Road. This guide does not claim a universal destination menu.
How do I return home quickly?
Use the Dog Whistle after Komako teaches it during story progression. It can provide a shortcut back to the home garden, but some maps restrict it and it is unavailable during Midnight.
When do I unlock Dog Whistle?
It is a story progression unlock taught by Komako. Spring 6 is an earliest observed story-chart position, not a universal calendar promise.
Why cannot I use Dog Whistle?
Check whether you are in Midnight, on a map where the whistle is restricted, or before the story unlock. A complete blocked-map list and any dog-presence requirement are unresolved.
How do I run faster?
Late-story progression connected to Nue Hide unlocks a faster running movement option. The exact multiplier, activation state and platform-specific input are not established here.
How do Quarry Minecart shortcuts work?
Quarry progress unlocks Minecart checkpoints at 10-floor intervals. The current confirmed destination list runs from 10F through 110F.
Can I fast travel directly to B120F?
No direct B120F Minecart destination is confirmed. Start from the B110F checkpoint and descend through the final section.
How do I unlock the Garden–Quarry shortcut?
After clearing the main story, visit Kisuke and pay ¥50,000 to open the postgame back road between the home garden and Quarry.
How much does the Quarry back road cost?
The canonical cost is ¥50,000. The current construction record also lists a three-day build and no material entries.
What happens at 6:00 AM in Midnight?
Midnight exploration ends with an automatic return home at 6:00 AM. This is a forced system return, not a manually triggered fast-travel option.
Does Miracle Whistle teleport me?
No. Miracle Whistle is a garden-only time mechanic; it stops time while you remain in the garden. Livestock and Rain Whistles also are not travel shortcuts.
Are secret underground passages permanent fast travel?
Not by default. The story's hidden and underground routes are tracked as story-only passages unless post-story persistence is explicitly established.
